APWA Project of the Year Award

We’re proud to share that the Luzerne Road Culvert Replacement Project in the Town of Queensbury has received the American Public Works Association Public Works Project of the Year Award – Structures (Under $5 Million). C.T. Male Associates served as the Design Consultant for this project.

Funded through a Bridge NY grant, the project replaced a failing corrugated metal pipe with a new concrete box culvert designed to improve hydraulic capacity and long-term resilience. By constructing the new culvert adjacent to the existing structure, Clendon Brook was able to remain flowing throughout construction, allowing work to be completed in dry conditions while minimizing environmental disturbance.

The new culvert was designed to convey a 50-year storm event and incorporates a natural streambed in coordination with NYS DEC and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Additional improvements included guide rail upgrades and roadway reconstruction, further enhancing safety and functionality along Luzerne Road.

Our team provided surveying, design, permitting, bidding, and construction-phase services, working closely with project partners to deliver a meaningful infrastructure improvement for the community.

Congratulations to the Town of Queensbury, Wm. J. Keller & Sons Construction Corp. – the project’s general contractor, and everyone else that helped the project come to light. We’re honored to see this project recognized by APWA and grateful to celebrate alongside such a dedicated team.
