Sand Creek Road Reconstruction
Town of Colonie, New York
This project involved the full-depth reconstruction of 4,100 linear feet of Sand Creek Road, a busy arterial through a densely populated neighborhood in the Town of Colonie, NY.
The project included a widening of the paved surface to accommodate a center turning lane, the addition of concrete curbing and a sidewalk, and the replacement of traffic signals at two intersections.
In addition to the roadway improvements, the project also included the replacement of water and sewer mains, the construction of new stormwater catch basins and drainage lines, and the relocation of a gas line.
C.T. Male Associates performed topographic, utility, and boundary surveys of the roadway corridor; and prepared construction documents for the roadway and utility improvements.
During the design process, C.T. Male Associates prepared and gave public presentations intended to introduce the project to neighboring residents. C.T. Male Associates also assisted with the permitting of the project, which included reviews by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation and the Albany County Department of Health.
The project team supported the client throughout the public bidding process. This included the preparation of a construction cost estimate, which accurately predicted the final bid price. C.T. Male Associates reviewed and tabulated the bids received and followed up on references provided by the low bidder, before providing a recommendation to award to the client.
During construction, our team provided full-time construction observation at the site, provided SWPPP inspection services, and provided construction administration services including community project progress meetings, review of payment applications, address field issues and review/approve subcontractor submittals. This project was bid in January 2014, with construction completed on time and on budget in December 2014.
