Stagecoach Natural Gas Storage
Central New York Oil and Gas Company
C.T. Male Associates provided office and field staff to coordinate the land surveying activities required for the Stagecoach Natural Gas Storage Project in Oswego, New York.
From the initial environmental surveys to the location of the pipelines in the ditches before they were backfilled, C. T. Male Associates used in house GPS equipment as well as miles of traditional traverse to complete the project tasks. At times the project required as many as five field crews and six office personnel to complete complicated tasks within the client’s strict time schedule.
Project tasks included initial stakeout of proposed storage wells and access roads and location of wetland areas. Topography and stakeout was provided for the 12 storage well sites and their metering skid buildings and pipeline connections.
Topography of the centerline of the eight-mile pipeline was performed and then centerline and right-of-way lines were staked and offset. After construction the welds were located and as built pipe locations were performed.
ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys were prepared for properties owned by Central New York Oil and Gas Company LLC as well as the preparation of lease plans for the entire length of the pipeline right of way. A two mile electric line right of was also surveyed, staked and mapped along with an electric switch station.
C.T. Male Associates’ GIS Group became involved as Tioga County, NY, requested GIS files of the pipeline route, the pipeline ROW, related well areas and pig launch areas for their county records as well as Empire Zone area calculations. The files were delivered in two different coordinate systems, to match the county and to match the pipeline owner data. Some of the GIS data were created by conversion of AutoCAD files; other data were created by means of screen digitizing over aerial photography.
