Architectural Services
C.T. Male Associates is seeking a motivated, high performing, skilled individual to join the Architectural Team at our Latham, NY office. Working under the supervision of a Registered Architect and Project Manager, this position will be responsible to assist in the performance of wide-ranging assignments on multi-discipline projects for design and construction documentation. Position will also provide support to Architects and Project Managers for bidding and procurement, construction contract administration, and related support activities. The successful candidate will demonstrate significant experience with REVIT and Building Information Modeling (BIM) and will possess the ability to grow into the firm’s BIM Coordinator.
Qualifications:
- Two-year professional/technical degree (A.A.S.) in design or related field.
- A minimum of 4 years post-graduate related experience.
- Proficiency in relevant software and office systems including Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Microsoft Office Suite, and office filing standards.
- Capability to work collaboratively with a multi-discipline team across architecture, engineering, survey, and other professional disciplines and help coordinate design packages.
- Working knowledge of construction technology and building systems
- Self-motivated individual with ability to work independently and collaboratively as an integrated team member.
- Must hold and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Project Responsibilities:
CT Male will provide training in the following project responsibilities to fulfill the applicant’s career development:
- Understanding of unique interdisciplinary design methods and practices, including investigative learning, co-design, materials and systems that frame and drive the design project.
- Knowledge of MasterSpec format for specifications and ability to perform product research to more efficiently plan, design, construct, and manage buildings and infrastructure.
Pay Range: $24 – $31/hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

C.T. Male Associates is seeking a motivated, high performing, skilled individual with 5 years minimum experience to join our Architectural Team. The Project Architect will be responsible for project creation and production from initial concept through construction documents, bidding and construction administration. Must have strong design skills as well as superlative written and verbal communication skills with a desire to lead a project team. As a Project Architect you will be tasked with initiating and coordinating all aspects of project development with in-house staff and consultants. The Project Architect will work under the supervision of a Managing or Senior Architect.
Qualifications:
- 5 years minimum post-graduate design and construction administration experience
- BArch or MArch, NAAB-accredited program
- Registered architect in New York State preferred. Unlicensed candidates will be considered if on an active professional licensing track so long as all other qualifications are met
- Proficiency in relevant software and office systems including Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, MasterFormat specifications and office filing standards
- Self-motivated individual with ability to work independently and collaboratively as an integrated team member
- Demonstrate skills necessary to interact with senior staff, junior staff and clients in a supportive, constructive, professional manner
- Demonstrate an ability to research and teach in the context of design, production and software implementation
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of project finances including fee budgets and construction cost estimates
- Must have extensive knowledge of building codes; Possession of a NYS Code Enforcement Official certification a plus
Pay Range: $75,000 – $95,000/year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Male Associates, a multi-discipline engineering and architectural firm in the Northeast, is seeking experienced Construction Observers for upcoming projects in the greater Capital District Area, Mohawk Valley and North Country as well as the Hudson Valley and Orange County regions of New York state. These full-time positions offer potential for advancement, skills development, and a full benefits package. These positions are full time but subject to seasonal layoffs dependent upon construction schedules and durations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Observe and document the amount and type of work completed by the contractor.
- Document that the contractor is using the approved products and materials.
- Document the equipment and labor used by the contractor.
- Document issues and obstacles encountered by the contractor. Coordinate with the contractor’s superintendent to monitor the progress of the work.
- Use reasonable efforts to enforce the contractor to keep accurate field measurements and produce accurate “red-lined” record drawings.
- Provide sufficient observation and documentation so the Engineer of Record can certify that the work has been completed in general conformance with the approved construction documents.
- Coordinate testing services on the project site.
- Perform project record keeping for preparation of a certification report to include daily reports, panel placement, daily test seams, manufacturer’s certification, destructive and nondestructive testing.
Requirements:
- Associates Degree in Civil Engineering, Technology program or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school or a minimum of five years of directly relevant experience.
- Knowledge of local, state and federal laws regarding environmental health regulations, construction standards, and labor standards.
- Familiarity with the following: construction survey procedures, establishment of line and grade for construction, method of various means of transfer of line and grade, general utility construction (water, sewer, drainage, roadway), determination of pipe capacities, velocities and slopes, traffic control protocol, soil concrete properties placement techniques, compaction methods and testing.
- OSHA 10-Hr Construction training is preferred.
- A self-motivated problem solver.
- A willingness to perform a minimal amount of travel within New York State in support of project activities.
- A valid driver’s license.
- This position requires the ability to work extended days/hours, working in all types of weather, ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.

As a Geotechnical Services Team Leader at C.T. Male Associates, you will be responsible for managing and directing geotechnical engineering services offered by the firm, performing project management responsibilities for standalone geotechnical and dam projects as well as providing support to the firm’s many technical divisions.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Supervise, coordinate and review the work of geotechnical staff within the Civil Engineering Division.

- A minimum of twenty (20) years relevant experience with geotechnical engineering.
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S., PE minimum) from a four-year college or university and preferably a Masters’ Degree with a concentration in Geotechnical Engineering.
- A NYS Professional Engineer license.
- A valid NYS driver’s license.

As an Asbestos Project Monitor/Air Sampling Technician at C.T. Survey Services
We are seeking an experienced Utility Locator/Ground Penetrating Radar Supervisor to manage and grow the Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) discipline at the firm. Our goal is to provide professional private mark out and geophysical investigation services to public and private clients.
Primary responsibilities:
- Interact directly with clients; take calls, secure work, negotiate contracts, and schedule and perform the work with assistance from other staff
- Accurately mark the location of underground utilities, tanks, etc.
- Utilize RF, EM, magnetic and ground penetrating radar equipment
- Ability to read and interpret utility maps to identify size and type of underground utilities
- Maintain a professional appearance to our clients while conducting geophysical surveys at varying sites throughout our service territory
- Work safely with coworkers, clients, and public to complete tasks in a timely manner

Qualifications:

We are seeking to fill a Survey/Laser Scanner Technician position in our Latham (Albany), NY office. Come collaborate with a team of technical professionals and join a community that will strive to help you reach your greatest potential.
As a Survey/Laser Scanner Technician at C.T. Male Associates, you will coordinate all aspects of Laser Scanner Services. You must have complete knowledge of Laser Scanner terminology, hardware, and software. This full-time position offers a competitive compensation package as well as advancement opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Setup and execute field procedures, review data, recognize errors, perform computations, and implement procedures, including quality control and quality assurance.
- Plan and schedule office and field operations for GPS, Laser Scanner, and conventional survey projects.
- Utilize Leica Geosystems HDS Cyclone Mapping/Modeling software to process and manage point cloud data and transfer data into AutoCAD Civil 3D for mapping purposes.
- Prepare boundary computations under the direction of a Licensed Land Surveyor.
- Secure information from Public Corporations, Government Agencies, utility companies and other surveyors including deed research.
- Direct and instruct Survey field staff engaged in making various types of field surveys.
- Understand and protract deeds, maps, and easements with all proper notations.
- Perform computations for construction stakeout to include horizontal curves, vertical curves, house/lot stakeout and utility data.
- Perform mathematical calculations to establish and locate property corners, vertical and horizontal reference points, and staking for construction projects.
- Be able to download a GPS receiver/data collector and process the collected data in Trimble Business Center.
Requirements:
- A.A.S. Degree in Surveying Technology or certificate from college or technical school; and five plus (5+) years related experience and/or equivalent combination of training, education and/or experience.
- Complete knowledge of surveying and laser scanner terminology.
- Knowledge of compatible uses of conventional methods and GPS.
- Full understanding of contour plotting.
- Current Remote UAV Pilot Part 107 Certificate is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with utility mapping.
- Ability to comfortably lift and walk several feet carrying up to 75 lbs. of equipment.
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training is a plus.
- OSHA 10-Hour Construction Health and Safety training is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license.
Pay Range: $25.00 – $35.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

We are seeking to fill a Survey Crew Chief position in our Latham (Albany), NY office. Our company has over 100 years of surveying experience with a reputation for high quality services, attention to detail and professionalism. This full-time position offers a competitive compensation package as well as advancement opportunities.
As a Survey Crew Chief at C.T. Male Associates, you will be responsible for boundary, topographic, utility, and construction survey work. You will also have the opportunity to use modern, state-of the art technology, performing 3D laser scanning surveys, drone surveys and bathymetric surveys for a wide variety of clients. You will be responsible for the crew and oversee other crew members.
Frequent travel with some overnight stays is a key component of this position. There is opportunity for overtime and work on NYS Prevailing Wage projects.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform survey work involving boundary, topographic, utility, construction, laser scanning, GPS, and other surveys.
- Instruct, manage, and direct an Instrument Operator engaged in making field surveys, using survey notes, maps, deeds, plots and plats, property lines, subdivision monuments, etc.
- Verify the accuracy of measurements taken by your crew; keep accurate records, notes, and sketches of the work performed.
- Prepare, practice and execute all Health and Safety Procedures, for yourself and all employees under your supervision, as per the firm’s policies.
- Secure information from Public Corporations, Government Agencies, and other surveyors, including deed research.
Requirements:
- Associates Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school with three plus (3+) years of relevant experience and/or training or the equivalent combination.
- A full working knowledge of Boundary Law and experience in boundary & topographic surveys.
- Expert utilization knowledge of Data Collectors & Total Stations.
- Willingness and ability to travel routinely, including overnight stays.
- Leadership skills, including readiness to mentor junior staff.
- Valid driver’s license.
