Highway Garage & Town Hall
C.T. Male Associates is currently providing Site Evaluation & Planning Services, as well as Building Programming Services for the Town of Duanesburg. The Town has been working out of the same highway garage for more than 40 years, and out of the same town hall for over 30 years without any substantial improvements made to either facility over the course of their use. With a substantially different set of needs and programmatic requirements for each facility, it was determined that neither facility could be readily renovated or added on to without incurring excessive costs that would make the project infeasible.
With the assistance of C.T. Male Associates, multiple sites within the township were investigated for development as the new town complex. A variety of site types were evaluated including:
- New undeveloped sites with no existing building, infrastructure or site design.
- Existing facilities that would require minor alterations to the existing facility layout and size to accommodate a new function.
- Existing facilities that would require substantial alterations, including the potential 100% demolition of the existing building to accommodate a new structure.
The site under evaluation had the potential to include both Town Hall and Highway Garage functions for the Town and result in approximately 15,000 square feet of working space.
Key components of the Towns functions included offices, locker rooms, secure storage, standard storage, heated garage areas, cold storage garage areas, mechanics lift area, paint-shop and vehicle wash down areas. Close coordination with both the Town Board, Highway Department, and Building Inspector has been essential to ensure all elements and functions of the town are being addressed and the flow and function between each is acceptable.
