C.T. Male Associates Hosts Eastern New York Chapter of the Air & Waste Management Association Earth Day Grant Program Presentations
On November 15th, C.T. Male Associates hosted/sponsored the Eastern New York Air & Waste Management Association (AWMA) Chapter’s meeting where recipients of the Annual Earth Day Grant Awards present their projects to the AWMA membership and participate in an interactive forum with area engineers, scientists, and various environmental professionals. Three area schools (one elementary, one middle school and one high school) participated in the event, with teachers, administrators and more than 30 students presenting their projects. Coxsackie Elementary School’s presentation was entitled “River to Sea Clean Air and Water Starts with Me!”; Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Middle School’s presentation was a summary of their “Creating and Outdoor Classroom: Combating Nature Deficit Disorder” project; and Coxsackie-Athens High School’s Environmental Science Class presented a summary of their “Bees to the Buzz” project.
The Annual Earth Day Grant Program wrapped up its 16th year and is available to schools (Preschool – Grade 12) within the membership area with zip codes starting with “12”. To date, the organization has awarded 246 grants totaling more than $109,000. C.T. Male Associates has continually sponsored this program since 2002, and continues to actively participate in the organization, with several members of the Environmental Services Division regularly attending AWMA meetings, and Joe Farron currently serves as the Chapter Treasurer and has been a member of AWMA’s Education Committee since its inception in 2000.
