C.T. Male Associates Hosts Haz-Mat Awareness Class
C.T. Male Associates recently hosted a Haz-Mat Awareness class for Code Enforcement Officers (CEO). The class was presented by Peter Lattanzio, I.A.A.I-CFI, President of C&L Inspection Services, LLC, to some 35 CEOs from various local municipalities. Participants received credit for two-hours of in-service training from the New York State Department of State. The class was an overview for building and code officials of what they should be thinking about when on site for an inspection. It provided helpful insight when undertaking plan reviews and covered the conversion from MSDS to SDS and discussed “placarding” and “warning labels”. Beginning June 1, 2015 the Hazard Communication Standard will require pictograms on labels to alert users of the potential chemical hazards to which they may be exposed. The pictogram on the label is determined by the chemical hazard classification.
