C.T. Male Associates’ Ed Garrigan Discusses Plans for Frontier Town Campground, Equestrian and Day Use Area in North Hudson
During a meeting held this week by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), Ed Garrigan, President of C.T. Male Associates discussed plans for the Frontier Town Campground, Equestrian and Day Use Area project.
Also known as the “Gateway to the Adirondacks” initiative, New York State is planning to invest $13 million for DEC-operated areas to be built on 91 acres south of the former Frontier Town theme park, located in North Hudson off Exit 29 off the Northway.
Launched earlier this year, the initiative focuses on increasing access to outdoor recreation throughout NY while protecting natural resources and strengthening the local economy.
The new campground has been designed in collaboration with DEC, NYS Office of General Services, and C.T. Male Associates, and will include 91 campsites total.
During the meeting, Ed Garrigan provided information on the five key components of the plan:
- Trailside Day Use
- Riverside Day Use
- Equestrian Camping
- Tent Camping
- Access for All
North Hudson Town Supervisor Ronald Moore said it is encouraging to see development of the former Frontier Town site, which closed back in 1998 and resulted in many businesses closing down shortly thereafter.
“Now with this Frontier Town gateway, we’ve got an opportunity for renewing our hope for business growth and employment,” Moore said.
“C.T. Male Associates is proud of our involvement in this exciting project that will give equestrian and camping enthusiasts a location from which to access some of the most beautiful areas in the Country,” Garrigan said.
DEC anticipates site work to begin in February 2018, pending approval of the APA permit application. The Trail Side Day Use Area is expected to be open in Fall 2018, and it is anticipated that the Frontier Town Campground, Equestrian and Day Use Area will be fully operational by Summer 2019.
