Holland Circle Apartments
Amsterdam, New York
In 2013, Mental Health Association in Fulton & Montgomery Counties received a grant from the NYS Office of Mental Health to develop a multi-family housing complex that would integrate supportive mental health housing and affordable housing. C.T. Male Associates first worked with MHA to find a suitable site in the commercial corridor north of Amsterdam, NY. After several attempts at securing a site, MHA secured development rights to a 69 acres parcel. The site was determined to be restricted by wetland covenants that significantly limited the developable area. Through the acquisition of two small adjacent lots a 5 acre development site was delineated.
To meet local zoning restrictions the 48 dwelling units needed to be divided into 4 separate 3-story residential houses, each connecting to a central commons hub. The project has achieved site plan approval and architectural schematic design. In 2020, the project ownership was transferred to Depaul of Rochester, NY. C.T. Male Associates is partnering with Depaul’s architect SWBR to complete the low income housing funding application process with NYS Housing and Community Renewal and complete the design and construction administration of the project.
