C.T. Male Associates Celebrates the Grand Opening of Frontier Town
On June 26th, C.T. Male’s Chad Kortz attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of Frontier Town Campground, Equestrian and Day Use Area in North Hudson, NY. This ceremony marks the completion of two years of hard work, the signature project of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s master plan to establish a “Gateway to the Adirondacks,” an initiative launched to attract new visitors to the Adirondack Park and drive economic growth in New York State and the North Country. Spectrum News and NBC5 were just a few of the news outlets present to help mark the occasion.
C.T. Male Associates received an ACEC Platinum-level Engineering Excellence Award earlier this spring based on the complexity, innovation, and value to society of this project. We worked successfully alongside the New York State Office of General Services (OGS) and the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) to redevelop this former theme park into a community asset.
C.T. Male Associates provided a large breadth of services, including: site plan design services; stormwater services; design of roads, drainage features, trails, and water and wastewater systems, including the design of porous “pavement” surfaces, rain gardens and infiltration basins; electrical design, including solar generation power features; SEQRA compliance services; technical assistance with Lead Agency Consultation; visual impact assessment; Phase IB cultural resources survey; geomorphologic study and structural-building inventories for two existing structures; preparation of an Adirondack Park Agency (APA) permit application; building architectural design and renderings; water well investigation and design; septic system design; preparation of construction plans and details; and construction phase services.
The mission of Frontier Town is to provide opportunities for the public to connect with the natural environment of the Adirondacks and enjoy outdoor recreational activities. The site also provides trailhead access for hiking and horseback riding, along with areas for picnicking. The area includes approximately 11,600 linear feet of new paved roads and a total of ninety-one (91) camping sites. Thanks to the engineering and design services provided by C.T. Male Associates, it also includes porous gravel “paved” surfaces within the equestrian and tent site areas and has its’ own potable water supply source and private wastewater treatment system.
Ed Garrigan, C.T. Male Associates’ Past President, summarized it nicely when he said “C.T. Male Associates is proud of our involvement in this exciting project that will give equestrian and camping enthusiasts a location from which to access some of the most beautiful areas in the Country.”
